Leveraging Limited Resources To Create Quality eLearning

Fotolia_76444235_ltd resources 070716In an association seeking future-forward, sustainable professional development, quality eLearning definitely is the delivery mode of choice.  Limited resources focus the eLearning plans.   Such plans are non-negotiables in our digital world.   Three factors set priorities for wise resource use.

System Selection.

In an environment with limited resources, the most effective, efficient system is Unified Learning.   This is one of three top decisions to make in setting priorities in eLearning resources:  select the system that allows your organization to meet learner professional goals via multiple tools.  These tools are unified within the same system.  Thus, there are efficiencies for staff and users (members):  one stop shop for all things learning.

Content.

The second priority decision-point is content.  Re-use education assets or create new experiences?  These days the use of content curation provides the association with both sides of the content coin:  new and existing content.  When existing assets are converted for eLearning, the content life is extended, even re-invigorated.   Converted assets can stand alone or be combined with newly curated or created content.  It can be a magic mix of refreshed learning within limited resources.

Learner Professional Goals.

The third and most important key factor is the learner professional goal.  You must know your learners and their career aspirations and goals.  On the career journey, frequently the adult learner does not realize what is needed to reach the next step or re-direct a professional path.  This is where an association deeply committed to quality adult learning becomes a trusted partner.  When the association lets learner professional goals guide eLearning decisions, best use of limited resources comes into focus.

Even though associations wish they could be all things to all people, especially their members, that is not realistic.  What is realistic is recognizing that quality eLearning is required for today’s education provider and even with limited resources, a sustainable, dynamic eLearning program can be created.  Use three key decision points to guide your use of limited resources:  system selection, content design and learner goals.  Even with a tight budget, offer eLearning that matters to members!
